My Story

Spruce Grove has always been home for me, and it’s where my husband Angus and I have raised our family. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats — engineer, business owner, council member, volunteer — but at the heart of it all, I’ve always been focused on helping our community grow and thrive.

My early career was in engineering, where I worked with both municipal and provincial governments. That experience gave me a strong foundation in how cities function — from planning and infrastructure to the day-to-day decisions that keep a community running smoothly. Later, Angus and I built our own businesses right here in Spruce Grove, which gave me a firsthand understanding of what it takes to support local jobs, serve customers, and strengthen our economy.

I’ve also been fortunate to serve on City Council from 2017 to 2021 and to spend many years volunteering with local organizations like Girl Guides and Spruce Grove Ringette. Those experiences have kept me closely connected to people across our city and have shown me just how much we can achieve when we work together.

I believe in rolling up my sleeves, working hard, and making practical, thoughtful decisions that put people first. That’s what drives me to run for Mayor — because I care deeply about this community, and I want to see Spruce Grove continue to grow into a city we’re all proud to call home.

Spruce Grove – Stony Plain area deserves someone who is ready to stand up for what we need.

I am excited to be seeking nomination to represent you as the next NDP candidate in Spruce Grove – Stony Plain.

I have seen and heard from many in our communities that they are struggling and facing challenges.  While these challenges are both old and new, they all stem from poorly written or outdated policies.  I have witnessed first hand the effects of these policies on my family, my businesses and most importantly my community.

Albertans need leaders who will listen and work with them to bring forward sustainable, achievable, and affordable policies.

23 plus years as a civil engineer, 15 plus years owning and operating a business, and 4 years as a city councillor has given me extensive experience in budgets, financial statements, water, sewer, storm water, road construction, residential, commercial, & industrial development, the role of governance, inter-municipal relations, by-laws, policies, social & economic development.  All great assets to bring financial responsibility to Albertans.

Some are asking me “you own businesses, how can you represent the NDP?” I tell them that I run my family and my businesses in the same manner as the NDP.  With compassion, understanding, compromise, good communication and most importantly making sure we are financially responsible now and into the future.  This is how the NDP built much needed schools and hospitals, started plans for an updated relevant curriculum, a universal child care program, a climate leadership plan and so much more.

I grew up watching my parents run successful businesses.  What I learnt is that most of this success is due to community connection.  Volunteering, supporting community and doing for others is a great way to benefit the greater good while having a successful business.

I am ready to utilize my skills as an engineer, entrepreneur, city councillor and community leader to strengthen our region and bring forward change that will benefit all Albertans, especially Spruce Grove – Stony Plain.
